For all dog trainers and behaviourists interested in helping owners work with their dogs to create the best environment for both - it's what we do and it's what we love!

Effects of relationships both between conspecifics, and people and their dogs. Exploring the effect of these on behaviour modification – examined through five different cases.

This one-day seminar explores a number of different cases, focusing on relationships within the home and the effects of these on motivation, functions and reinforcement of behaviours that clients have reported as problematic

The format for the day is based around guided discussion and a group approach to each case. By approaching the cases in this way, it is hoped that everyone will be able to both input and learn, through discussion and exploration of the specific situations involved in each situation

After a short introductory presentation, for each of the cases we will discuss:
  • Background history
  • Analysis of the client questionnaire
  • Veterinary history and potential effects of disease, injury or medication where applicable
  • The aetiology of the behaviour issues as a whole; concentrating on:
    • Learning/ training history
    • Environment
    • Client/dog relationships
    • Inter-household relationships with other animals
    • Motivation for and the function of the behaviour/s
    • Timelines of relevant events
    • Breed, motor patterns and drive
  • Approaches to behaviour modification based around:
    • Client’s capabilities
    • Client cooperation and willingness to adapt
    • Environmental enrichment
    • Changes in the Home Environment
    • Veterinary support
    • Training
    • Modification protocols

A very insightful one-day online course with Dave Brice, focusing on four behavioural modification case studies. I really enjoyed how each case was different and varied in complexity, and how each one was broken down in a clear, structured way — from analysing the client’s initial questionnaire and extracting key information, to exploring breed influences, household relationships, medical history, and more.I’ve come away with lots of brilliant, practical ideas to use with my own clients, as well as inspiration to refine my questionnaires and sharpen my observational and troubleshooting skills. The client videos were particularly useful for discussion, and the pace of the day was just right. Dave was excellent at checking understanding throughout. Very useful and engaging course.
