I am a qualified Assistance Dog Trainer and therefore privately train dogs whose owners have specific assistance needs
I train the dogs that clients already have, to become their Assistance Dogs and to pass the Public Access Test. I am working with Schools, Colleges and Universities to enable students to continue their education on campus by attending with their Assistance Dogs. I have trained dogs to become School Assistance Dogs as forward thinking Head Teachers are aware of how much a calm and loving dog can do for both Neuro Typical and Neuro Diverse students.
Assistance Dog Assessment Association - ADAA
This is the only organisation in the UK that assess Owner Trained Assistance Dogs and come under the umbrella of the ADUK and ADI. Once the dog has completed and passed both the Public Access and the Flight tests, then the team are allowed to fly from any airport and any airline, into and out of the UK.
I work alongside PAWSABLE which is a charity who support owner trained dogs, specifically to help children with Autism. I cover Glasgow and assess puppies for suitability for the role, help train the dogs and carry out their final assessment.
I work alongside the charity DOGS FOR AUTISM and train dogs on their behalf for specific families or individuals.
HOOPERS is a low impact agility sport for dogs if all ages, size and health status. It increases the bond between dog and handler as they work as a team but also increases the dogs confidence and focus as they learn to work at a distance from the handler. It is a very relaxed sport and the dogs can go at their own pace as there is no competition between other dogs and handlers. The handlers enjoy it just as much as the dogs!
