Overview

The Cheeky Chihuahua started in 2015, after I qualified as a Behaviourist Practitioner. I had only meant to study enough to learn how to help our chihuahua, Pepe, but here we are still studying and learning over a decade later. I spent 2 years working exclusively with Romanian street dogs who has been rehomed locally. I then also started working with other troubled dogs and soon came to realise that a lot of their problems stemmed from unpleasant experiences in puppyhood, not least in classes run by trainers or local vets. I branched out into puppy classes after studying with the IMDT and passing the membership assessment. To me it seemed logical that classes should be able to provide a compassionate environment whilst catering for different canine personalities, without compromising on the quality of instruction. Seeing a once timid puppy stroll into the hall with ears up and tail wagging is absolutely wonderful.

Adolescence is a tricky time for dogs, and needs to handled delicately, which is why I started our Teenage Tearaway classes. We now have 5 weekly classes in the Weston-super-Mare area, where our Tearaways are working through the Partnership Grades. Typically, these classes will be a combination of individual exercises and group exercises. Despite the class environment, your dog will be treated as the individual they are, and we have many who are now attending class week who previously couldn't be near either other dogs or people.

In addition the above, we also offer Mantrailing and Scentwork courses, and I also train assistance and emotional support dogs.
