Overview

My name is Sharon and I have always had family pets since growing up, although ‘Solo’ was my very own first dog who became a loyal and loving companion throughout my childhood; hence why I named my business after him.

Whilst I taught in Further Education for 14 years ‘helping others to learn’, my passion had always been to work with animals. During my teaching career, I volunteered regularly at my local kennels. This involved working with dogs that came in for home boarding and also those that required a new home. I also fostered dogs for many years that required some extra care and guidance to help them settle into their new forever home. Being a part of that was not only extremely rewarding but it just made me want to help every dog that is out there, whatever their background.

I also volunteered for many years at my local dog training club and decided that this was the new career path I wanted to follow. I gained so much pleasure from seeing the dogs succeed and their owners leave with a smile on their face. My goal is to help and support the families with either their excitable puppies, those that have been re-homed or anyone who wants to learn with their dogs and build on their relationship.

In 2013, I resigned from my Further Education career and started my own pet business. This involved 1 to 1 dog walking and cat visits, which grew immensely as a result of mainly recommendations. During this time and to date, I have also attended various canine courses in order to further my knowledge.

In 2018, I discovered the IMDT (Institute of Modern Dog Trainers). I wanted to learn more about how dogs learn and to provide and promote science based, proven dog training principles to a high standard using force free, kind, ethical and positive reinforcement methods only. After my first course I was hooked and just wanted to continue learning more and to pass on my knowledge and skills to others in my next venture in dog training. So without any hesitation, my hard work and training began and I proudly became an IMDT accredited dog trainer in April 2022.

I am fully insured, DBS checked and references are available on request.

All training will be discussed and a plan devised so that you can continue with your training. A discounted cost can be discussed if a block course of training is required.
